“From Home” is an unlimited edition set of art postcards, aggregating reproductions of five different paintings. The originals were painted between the winter holiday season and through the stay home period in 2020. Marking the beauty and resilience of nature that could be seen from my artist’s desk.

I traveled to Japan shortly after I painted the landscape with camellia “Winter Dreams”, and was in Kanazawa when the first COVID-19 cases were detected in Japan. “Winter Dreams” is effectively my last painting prior to the pandemic. The remaining paintings document the changes in the seasons through the birds and flowers I could see from my desk or close by, while out on neighbourhood walks.

The original paintings were inked on Japanese paper (washi) postcards and the printed reproductions are in the exact same B6 size (10.0 cm width x 14.8 cm height). With the exception of the monochrome “The swifts’ voice, awaiting bamboo shoots”, they feature a palette of Japanese ink and watercolours in tones of red to light pink and purple. I am not sure I will ever be able to find this exact colour mix again.

The postcards are digitally printed on 250gsm paper stock, the same pleasant haptic paper and cotton mix used for the special edition “One Moment, One Drawing”. The reverse sides feature a small caption with the original work title in English and Japanese, medium and artist details.
