A second edition of “Autumn in Japan” is coming soon.

It is official: I have green-lit the second edition of “Autumn in Japan“. If you were on the waiting list for the second edition of this ink painter’s travel journal I hope to have good news for you at the beginning of this year’s holiday season. More specifically, on and from November 22 and 23. We are targeting the last art book fair of the year – Volumes Zurich – as our official release for the second edition of “Autumn in Japan”. Please keep your fingers crossed for us.

In the meantime, “Lotus” continues its tour of Switzerland with “The Most Beautiful Swiss Books” exhibition. Read on for the release plans of “Autumn in Japan” and the additional dates and places where you can see “Lotus” until the year-end.

Book inventory here is currently at an all time low. Less than a handful of copies of “Lotus” are available and… that’s it. Nothing else is left. As such, in addition to green-lighting a second edition of “Autumn in Japan”, a second edition of “Lotus” is also in the works for early 2026. However, “One Moment, One Drawing” and “The Tea House Diary” will remain out of print in the coming year. I have to focus on completing one new short story in 2026 to follow on from “Lotus”. There are also a couple of new exciting projects on the horizon, which I hope to be able to share here with you soon.

Second edition release November 23, 23 at Volumes Zurich.

If you are near Zurich on November 22 and 23, please come and join me as we celebrate the release of the second edition of “Autumn in Japan” at Volumes Zurich. The two-day fair is more centrally located this year, at Gessnerallee, just a few minutes walking distance from the main train station. Simply save the image below to your phone to keep the date and location details of the fair at hand.

When “Autumn in Japan” is likely to be open for orders here.

It is not possible to pre-order the second edition of “Autumn in Japan”. I like to inspect all copies of my books individually prior to signing, only then do I update the available inventory and re-activate the purchase page here. Also, paper costs have increased significantly since 2022, so there is a chance the previous price will have to be revised upwards when I tally the accurate cost of the second edition. Even if you cannot visit Volumes Zurich in person, I suggest you still save the date above and come back to check the website shop then.

Elsewhere in Switzerland…

Lotus” continues its tour of Switzerland with “The Most Beautiful Swiss Books” exhibition inaugurated at Helmhaus Zurich earlier this year. Below are all the dates and places outstanding on the national tour featuring all nominees and award winners.

When the tour finishes, the “Lotus” exhibition copy will be added to the Swiss National Library archives. This national tour is long. So long, that by the time our book reaches the Bern archive, we have already started work on its second edition.

This was also the case with “Autumn in Japan”, by the way. As a 2022 nominee, it reached its final home this summer: https://permalink.snl.ch/bib/sz991019360731203976.

I heard, from a most faithful source I met in Basel this June, that despite the long tour the book seemed to have been handled with precious care by everyone. It reached the national archives in near pristine condition. A big thank you to everyone who browsed through it, for handling it like a treasure.

As for me, I am looking forward to likewise holding “Autumn in Japan” in my hands once more!

See (some of) you at Gessnerallee in November!
