I love the clear sound of Japanese bell-shaped wind chimes – fūrin. For the summer season, I take out my small chime here in Zurich, and keep it hanging next to my painting desk and open windows. It brings a relaxing sound in the summer heat. (cont’d below)

Description

“The sound of summer”

(cont’d from above) When painting this particular hydrangea in cooling blue tones, I brushed past the chime. That’s when I decided it should make its appearance on the piece.

Japanese ink on Awagami ink painting paper of shikishi dimensions (27.2 cm width x 24.2 cm height). The work is signed and stamped by the artist on the lower right corner of the composition.
