Thank you for reading another zen Monday. ありがとうございました。

Every Monday is zen Monday. Always a weekly does of Japanese ink painting coupled with one Japanese word, sometimes a poem.

Zen Mondays are back from the summer break, and they bring along some mountain postcards. I hope you enjoy this small series taking over zen Mondays over the coming weeks. The paintings on the series are all inspired by imagery of the Italian Alps. Photos captured this summer during nature walks near Alpe di Siusi or Vigiljoch. The ink paintings include the usual suspects – birds – as well as a couple of other animals and plants. I inked the brush pen drawings in this series above 1500m. This carried a very peculiar challenge. It seems my brush pens require far longer to acclimate to mountain airs than I do. Randomly abundant ink flow through the brush tip experienced throughout. Then again, letting go of control and precision is what holiday breaks are all about.

If you have a particular question you would like me to address about the paintings in this series or my ink painting process, leave a comment below or send me a message through the contact form at www.mafaldatenente.com/contact.

In case you missed the announcement, I share a summary of my artistic activities by email a couple of times a year. It is called “The Art Journey 🏮” and you can subscribe to it here: www.mafaldatenente.com/newsletter.
