Ink paintings on display in Bern until June 7

Ink painting exhibition at Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) announcement

If you missed my solo exhibition last November, there is another chance to see some of my paintings again. From now until June 7, I am taking part in the “Die Poesie der Tusche” exhibition at the Japanese Information and Cultural Center (JICC) in Bern.

Paintings and artists books on display

It is a great honour as a Swiss-Portuguese artist to show some of my works in Japan’s “home” in Switzerland. A selection of my paintings as well as artist books are on display. The spring breeze took my “Poppy with dandelions” to the JICC tearoom. The paintings I prepared for this year’s Tokyo exhibition and its previous editions are also in Bern.

My Kanazawa castle award-winning scroll

I recently received my International Honour Art Award for the Kanazawa Castle scroll – a wonderful surprise. It was a pleasure to exchange a few words on this particular painting with ambassador Shiraishi during the opening ceremony.

A couple of Easter eggs

I prepared a couple of Easter eggs for my artist books display on the second floor. The first is a QR-code for your smartphone. With this code you can preview the book “One Moment, One Drawing”. Use it to compare some of the book images with the original drawings on display.

The second easter egg is for Japanese speakers. One clue only, “embrace the season”. If you think you found the easter egg, drop me a message over on instagram https://instagram.com/mtenente.

Thank you to the team at JICC for hosting us, ink artists. Thank you also for the wonderful opening ceremony. Looking forward to returning soon.

How to visit

The Bern exhibition is open weekdays between 9:00 and 12:15, 13:45-17:00 at the JICC, Engestrasse 43, 3012 Bern.
