Description
“A summer greeting from the Alps”
The fresh larch cone still attached to a small twig. Lying on the ground, on a soft carpet of needles in tones of lush dark to milk chocolate brown and copper. This is a typical summer greeting from the Alps to the hiker.
In the coolness of their shade, alpine conifer forests offer a respite from the summer heat. A chance to breathe and hear the sounds of their gentle branch cracking, swaying in the breeze. If one is lucky, sighting a deer, or a nuthatch.
When I come across the small larch cones on the ground every year, I cannot resist. I select one and place it in my pocket. To remind myself when I am back in the city of those cooler, slower days. To paint another card that captures those memories. Until we can meet again.
Fine art pigment print on handmade washi with fine deckled edges. Postcard size approximately 15 cm width x 10 cm height. Personally signed by the artist on the reverse side of the print.
